We’re two peas in a sustainability pod … cast and are here to chat with you about what we’re calling the green collar economy. There’s so much hoopla around sustainability and green jobs, but what is a green job? And how do we define green collar?
Well you’ve heard of blue collar and white collar, building off of that green collar is a subset of jobs that are related to sustainability. There are overtly sustainable jobs in fields like conservation, renewable energy, and regenerative agriculture. But there are also more covertly sustainable jobs - like the nail tech down the street who ditched disposables! And there you have it! This perfectly demonstrates our belief that any job can be a green job AND that every job needs to be a green job.
So why make a podcast? After having multiple conversations with job seekers looking to enter the sustainability space, we compared notes and realized there might be some value we can add here. As two individuals who entered green jobs from different backgrounds but with the same passion, we realized that our non linear paths into sustainability might actually be the norm. Our hope is to create this podcast as a tool for job seekers and students alike because we know first hand how tricky it can be to find your niche in the green collar economy.
TLDR we’ll be asking our guests who they are, what they do, and how they got there because it’s what we wish we could have had when we started out. We do hope you’ll listen in as we aim to educate, inspire, make some good puns, and shed light on the jobs we hope will make up the economy of tomorrow.
